that doesn't mean that the perception with those photos out don't be that they do. now over the past two years it's safe to say that the koch brothers david and charles have become household names although they've been involved in the political landscape for decades it was only after the financial crash in two thousand and eight the taxpayer bailout and a wave of anti-government sentiment reached the mainstream the most of us have become acquainted with them turns out that the hope to push as many now call it has attended everything from the tea party americans or prosperity to supporting candidates that are now on union busting campaigns and have a hand financially but just because it took a while for journalists to connect all the dots doesn't mean that their bill innovation is unfair to coax certainly thinks so and i knew him very lengthy profile and defense of the brothers the weekly standard asserts of the koch brothers have become the victims of a left wing media campaign they've become a scapegoat for all things conservative and evil so they just become the easy

they've been doing this for thirty years they coordinate funding among different groups and just in terms of the tea party or climb denial they've been having the most impact out of many donors and you know this weekly standard article tries to posit that these that the koch brothers are just regular homespun businessman at the same time he quotes fundraisers in the republican party bragging that the koch brothers are more capable than a pac the israeli lobby so it's kind of caught up on the argument that he's trying to make well they're definitely powerful men but i guess you know one pretty could be that you see the exact same thing coming from the left but the difference between the close brothers and between george soros who also has a lot of money who also funds think tank funds the center for american progress been tried to influence public policy that's exactly right and you know i don't know i work for american progress has received george soros funding but it's

important to note that everything we do it this is what we do it is to how to improve the middle class to help the working poor so it's good that you know that money is going to a better cause i'm not and i don't imagine language to help get a word in here yeah if this is exactly what's good good for the goose is good for the gander here the left has been doing this for years even well before george soros you have people from barbra streisand steven spielberg in other worlds the folks funding the left the rockefeller's and here you have two brothers there are patriots who are funding projects to increase freedom and liberty and country and just because some folks on the left can agree with that agenda doesn't mean is there any way though in this they're spending money putting their money where their mouth is. and improve our country and increase freedom and just because there might be rich folks doesn't mean there should be this class warfare or envy just because they happen to have made their money honestly and i try to spend it to influence our country for the better and that's what's going on here but is it fair though i mean what happened you can also say that what the koch brothers represents is is a class warfare in america because the people that have the money these days have

the influence and you know that the average american no longer has that kind of power well that's not i wish i would agree that because of the tea party movement has demonstrated that average people can get out there and make a difference and that's what that's all about this is there was really a strong attempt by the left to really you didn't mind the tea party by trying to say that this is all creations of rich people that's not true bottom line is the tea party as an example or people that are upset about current policies with this administration went out and began marching and protesting and have been able to effect change the fact that people might agree with them that it might happen to have money because they have in common the agenda of freedom doesn't should be a negative thing really what do you think they're do you think of the tea party would have gone as far as it did would have been as successful if a bunch of rich people had gotten behind it and decided to perhaps co-opt a movement started you know as a grassroots movement or quickly just to put this george soros going to rest you know i want to increase taxes on george soros i want to regulate this hedge fund i want even for you guys i want to increase the estate tax i'm doing nothing to

benefit george soros whereas the groups that koch once they seek to cut taxes on koch industries on the koch brothers and they they're fighting to deny climate change and koch industries is one of the largest emitters of carbon dioxide in the country so i mean there's a clear blame to the koch bottom line when they find all these groups the tea party you know it they it is composed of many are with hundreds of thousands of regular ordinary americans but when you have the coast brothers going to rallies handing out pamphlets telling tea partiers to help cut taxes on the rich or deny climate change we have the koch brothers paying for forty five million dollars in attack ads supposedly from the tea party when you have these koch brothers paying for buses to bus tea partiers all over the country to further the koch brothers bottom line and political agenda that's where i have a problem. now the thing that i have a problem with if we look back to this weekly standard article is there really does sound like this kind of self-pity to me boo hoo the koch brothers just can't

understand why so many people are talking about them why is that why you know they're getting so much criticism but i'm sorry if you're going to play that role if you're going to have such an influential you know arm or hand in politics put so much of your money out there don't you deserve that type of scrutiny aren't you kind of asking for help so i think i don't think they're coco's asking for any sympathy they're just out there trying to affect the country for the better or for freedom agenda and if they might be pointing out that the left is kind of you know unfairly vilifying but that's not what i asked for a simply disappointing god that we tell me that bill laughter is so unfairly vilifying the koch brothers and the right doesn't unfairly vilify people and stick on every single word that he hollers or say that is policy has a right because others are now assembling a massive p.r. team to influence that reporters to to write good things about them reporters are independent people like the tea party folks they can make their own decisions and you know this town is people are trying to influence reporters influence

politicians all the time indian people have to make their own decision and i think in the end that's based on truth and evidence i don't think that people should feel that you know people are going to do it for food just because they hand out leaflets at a tea party rally i mean one thing i can tell you about the tea party folks if they are independent that's why there is no one party leader so just because folks might support what the tea party folks are saying doesn't mean anyway that they've co-opted or controlling or even pushing an agenda that's different from what the tea party folks support which is individual freedom but i'm with you that perhaps you know i think it gives a little too much credit to say that perhaps anything the koch brothers think then trickles down to the tea party that they put words into their mouths which is george soros doesn't put words into your mouth right because the kremlin isn't into my relative but what the koch brothers did say here is that they believe obama is well not totally a marxist media little the galah tarion but they also. i think that he's you know done more of the most radical president that we've ever had and has hurt business so badly and that's just a lot coming up

a little bit so you know you had an article last week showing that businesses are more profitable than they ever have been the number of millionaires in the subject of america is still exploding businesses are doing quite well under obama it's interesting in this article that david koch attacks obama and says that he just uses so over time to get into the white house. granted david and charles koch had a silver spoon in their mouth when they went to private schools and private colleges and were born into a very wealthy family so it's interesting to get into the psychology of the cook rather said when they're basically hiring these p.r. consultants to place these types of articles you know in the weekly standard article they don't disclose that the weekly standard is owned by one of the coast best friends will ensure it's another billionaire that the weekly standard editor michael goldfarb is currently working for koch industries hoping to promote their political image so you know it's an interesting article but it again is just

the right makes more uncomfortable questions for them to answer for their base so there is real significance to this is as ridiculous as it seems or what do you think of donald trump is actually occur there or is he just saying this to. get a rise out of people or be because that's what the base really wants to hear me fifty one percent of republican primary. voters also have questions about president obama's citizenship well i don't know if he's saying this after the fact but one of his longtime political advisers roger stone was saying today that it was a brilliant move plays to his base that no one else is getting to do so the very least it fills a role there's no other candidate out there questioning obama's birth certificate i mean because he's produced it mostly but also because it's considered really the fever so i'm not sure whether he believes that or it's part of the strategy but donald trump it's always about attention and he's getting it but what about herman cain right because you're saying that sometimes these are questions that might be brought up later so now because of herman cain's islamophobia even though he admitted the other week too that he knows nothing about islam now other candidates

going to be forced into a corner they're going to be asked here would you hire a muslim to work in your cabinet i virtually guarantee that very soon you will see the other major candidates or potential candidates ask that exact question in response it's a legitimate issue with the base they've been going growing more and more hysterical and paranoid about the spread of islam within america and this is just a natural extension of it they are going to have to answer these questions i don't think anyone will give the same answer that herman cain but but this is definitely raises the question and it could be an issue that. gets upset about if they are insufficiently deferential to what they believe about islam ok so the base is paranoid based you could say in many regards doesn't necessarily have a whole lot of credibility when you put it into the you know the national political spectrum so if these candidates start just going along and saying exactly what their base wants then are they going to have no credibility on the national scene i don't mean you got to think about it right are the republican establishment going

to start picking and choosing just the safe people that mitt romney is or the tim pawlenty is and pushing aside the crazies well this is definitely a problem that every party faces when they're going up against an incumbent obama can just move to the center he doesn't really have to worry about a primary but this is going to be a new. crowded field of republicans no one right now wants to be seen as the less conservative than any other so any of these issues can come up and kind of a litmus test so they have to be very careful how do you deal with them so it's definitely something you're going to hurt you in the general election if something really far out of the mainstream becomes absolutely necessary to win the nomination but it's unclear if anything will reach that are going to get they can i just follow newt gingrich's example right and just start flip flopping from day to day not like they were totally normal or how do you like newt gingrich's latest excuse for why he was impeaching or investigating president clinton to be impeached while he was all at once cheating on his wife he basically just said well i'm just saying

i didn't swear under oath that i would lie to the people about that i mean because i really comes up with these excuses that i don't even know where he pulled those problems is that a lot of time to think about them that's been the number one obstacle to him reviving his political career for the last decade so he's got plenty of time to come up with whatever rationalization for why he was doing what he was doing and why we should forgive him but basically he said i cheated on my lies because i love my country so much but then he also said that even though i love my country all that much i never really had to give a deposition or swear an oath to be honest to my country which i love now let's talk about sarah palin very quickly because i think sarah palin is a perfect example here of somebody who really gets the base riled up she has a large support group but we've seen a huge shift when it comes to even political pundits of people now that have suddenly turned their back on sarah palin and again this establishment lettering but i think that there seems to be almost a tacit deal with sarah palin between her and the establishment i think was

a bit in my eyes by bill kristol was one of the biggest album guys who sit here in two thousand and seven which was ok you're leaving the governorship you have this huge following if you go through in the next two years just studying up on policy keeping your head down playing things by the book you know you coming out more legitimate. figure working on winning over independents then we'll give you a look but she's just on the opposite of that every single turn to the point and even some of her early supporters within the establishment just can't find any rationale for a candidate well her and her latest claim to you is that the presidency is just below her so if she loses that's her excuse she has better things to do than become the already governor of become president of the united states that's right now what about when it comes to you know what they say about gay marriage because recently there is polling that shows that fifty three percent of americans actually are in favor of it that's the largest number that's ever shown in polling so this is something that i mean the tides are changing in america is turning and that sense

so how much longer is he making being anti muslim muslim bigots as well as homophobes and there's well it's amazing that it's just two thousand and four it was universally acknowledged that gay marriage was this huge negative for democrats they were in deep trouble now it's amazing how quickly it's turned around to the point that it seems like republican candidates are much more uncomfortable dealing with this topic than democrats are. put this is something that probably won't be a huge issue going into the election even if the topic isn't on their side but where it could hurt them is young voters are very turned off by anti-gay politics is a huge huge gap here so if the various candidates are forced especially other courting say the religious right in iowa to take a very clear stand against gay marriage or even gays in the military that's the kind of thing that could hurt them in ads later people will hear about it people well i really certainly do hope that they are forced to answer some of those tough questions but then again like i said i no longer have any faith thanks to people
